Slotbound Items & Cores Guide: Match the Effect to the Job

An effect is useful when its trigger, target and timing improve the army you have. Start with the missing job before collecting a list of impressive names.

TAKE THIS INTO THE RUN

The next useful effect fixes a specific missing connection; its category or rarity is not the whole decision.

FIELD NOTE / 01

Read the current effect before importing an old build

Slotbound’s Core system was substantially rebuilt in 0.3, and the developer reworked Items again in 0.4. A July guide can therefore use a familiar name while describing a different version of the effect pool. Our catalog identifies October reports and leaves unverified current values unquantified.

Use the current card as the final reference for a purchase. Look for a trigger, its target, a timing restriction and a result. If one is missing from the guide you are copying, pause before treating the effect as a universal upgrade. Names alone do not establish a working synergy.

FIELD NOTE / 02

Separate the category from the reason to pick it

Joker Seed is marked Passive in the annotated recording. Notes and alignment effects appear in the community’s Core setup, while Hunting Mask is a named item purchase. We retain those source distinctions instead of calling every modifier an item. The effect’s job is a separate filter again.

For a reel plan, ask whether it supplies a symbol, schedules an opportunity, changes an arrangement or rewards a successful result. For an army plan, ask which unit receives the effect and what target must be in range. Two modifiers with different jobs are not automatic substitutes.

FIELD NOTE / 03

Access and alignment need each other at the right time

Joker Seed supplies hat access in the observed setup, Notes add scheduled opportunities and Rebound Axis offers extra alignment help in a player report. This combination is useful to understand because each component answers a different question. None of the individual names establishes the probability of a completed Jester summon.

Before spending, point to the missing part of your own attempt. If hats never appear, an adjustment tool alone is not the obvious answer. If the needed symbols are already present but misplaced, adding another later symbol opportunity may not fix the arrangement in front of you.

FIELD NOTE / 04

An effect can be valuable after an event but useless before it

Bloodline Seal is discussed as a follow-up to an absorption. That makes its prerequisite relevant to a first-Jester plan: an effect requiring the family you do not yet own cannot automatically solve its initial acquisition. Consecutive-win and extra-summon payoffs similarly reward a condition rather than guaranteeing that condition happens.

Write a short chain in plain language: this event happens, so this effect changes the next action, which helps this goal. If you cannot identify the first event in your present army or reel setup, the effect may belong to a later plan rather than the current purchase.

FIELD NOTE / 05

For targeting items, draw the connection mentally

The annotated Hunting Mask decision involves a highest-attack ally and an enemy selected by maximum health within range. The later placement problem in that example is more instructive than the item’s name: a desired target outside the effect’s reach does not receive the intended interaction.

Before a fight, identify the source unit, the eligible ally or enemy and the relevant reach. Moving or replacing a unit can change that connection. Do not assume an apparently powerful item fixes a boss problem until the actual target condition is satisfied on your board.

FIELD NOTE / 06

Spend against the next problem, not a complete wish list

The recorded run uses a separate blue-resource budget for shop choices and Core rerolls. Passing on an immediate item to preserve another chance at a Core has an opportunity cost. If the army is struggling now, delaying every practical improvement can prevent the later plan from becoming relevant.

Use our workbench as an effect reference and checklist, not a simulator or a complete current database. After an offer, note what it would fix and what the same budget could address instead. A smaller, connected improvement is often easier to evaluate than changing the entire setup at once.

Sixteen attributed effect references. The kind, timing and prerequisite matter more than the name’s rarity. This is not a complete post-rework database.

PASSIVE / ACCESSJoker Seed

The recorded passive gives each reel cell a chance to show the Jester hat.

A per-cell symbol chance is not the probability of a winning line or summon.

0.4-era recording and October player setup; full roll distribution unverified.
CORE / OPPORTUNITYBlack Note

A player reports a hat on the first spin of each wave.

One supplied symbol does not automatically complete the arrangement.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / OPPORTUNITYTorn Note

The recording and player report describe a hat every sixth spin.

Count the relevant spin; the other symbols and their positions still matter.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ACCESSWild Card

A reported legendary Core can supply hats and an additional unit for a qualifying win.

Rarity and the named effect are not proof it will be offered on demand.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ALIGNMENTRebound Axis

A player reports another nudge on the same reel after nudging.

Alignment help cannot supply an inaccessible symbol on its own.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ALIGNMENTLucky Nail

A reported losing-spin effect preserves two matching row symbols while the remaining reel is resolved.

Read the loss and matching-row conditions before expecting a lock.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ALIGNMENTGreedy Tail

A player reports middle-reel retries after a losing third spin of a wave.

It does not promise a retry on every loss.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ALIGNMENTTwin Cherries

A reported first-spin-of-wave loss can copy the first reel arrangement onto the last.

Copying the arrangement helps only if that arrangement serves the line you need.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ALIGNMENTCrooked Fang

A player reports swapping one symbol with the centre after a losing spin.

The timing is part of the effect; do not apply it to every board state.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / FAMILYBloodline Seal

A reported first-absorption trigger supplies symbols from that absorbed family on the next spin.

An interaction requiring a prior Jester is not a solution to the first Jester in that setup.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / OUTPUTEcho Lantern

A player reports an additional unit when the winning symbol repeats the previous win.

A payoff after a qualifying win does not itself improve first-symbol access.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / OUTPUTResonant Anvil

A reported effect adds a unit when enough winning-family symbols appear together.

Check the current symbol-count requirement instead of assuming every normal line qualifies.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / RARITYGolden Lever

A reported scheduled golden spin can raise the summoned rarity for a qualifying golden-symbol win.

A rarity increase and a new class summon are different outcomes.

October player report; current effect text takes precedence.
CORE / ECONOMYRewind Clock

A reported loss makes a following spin cheaper.

Read the current price; a discount is not a guaranteed winning spin.

ITEM / TARGETINGHunting Mask

The recorded player reads an effect involving the highest-attack ally and the enemy with the highest maximum HP within range.

The intended interaction fails when its range condition is not met. No current damage multiplier is established here.

QUICK ANSWERS

One more useful detail.

Is this an exhaustive current Item and Core database?

No. It is a source-labelled set of documented examples, with category and version limits retained. The current game supplies the full available pool.

Does extra output from a winning spin increase the first Jester’s summon odds?

Not by that fact alone. A payoff after a qualifying win and access to the required symbols are separate parts of a plan.
