HORDES OF AZEROTH

CLASS FIELD NOTE / BUILD THE CONDITION. CASH IT IN.

Hordes of Azeroth
Rogue build guide.

Rogue is a good fit if you enjoy a very clear setup-and-payoff question. Poison needs repeated applications, while the Combat path spreads its attacks across a crowded close-range fight.

THE ENGINE

Repeated hits feed Poison or chained finishers

B tier / first-run opinion ↗

CHOOSE A DIRECTION

Three routes.
One main engine.

These are qualitative starting directions, not a simulated best-in-slot build or an exact talent allocation.

01 / Assassination

Deadly Poison + Mutilate + Envenom

Apply Poison before expecting a large Envenom payoff. The current Envenom hits the three most-poisoned targets and retains their stacks.

02 / Combat

Blade Flurry + Eviscerate + Killing Spree

Turn repeated strikes into wider pressure. Eviscerate can now carry a killing blow onward, and Killing Spree reduces its cooldown.

03 / Subtlety

Shuriken Toss + Ambush + Shadow Dance

Focus on reaching fresh targets and renewing opener value. Watch whether the current horde gives you new enemies rather than only one durable boss.

SKILL CONNECTIONS

Give the next offer a job.

Sinister Strike
A frequent starting hit, useful as a baseline for on-hit interactions.
Deadly Poison
Now includes a thrown vial toward the largest group as well as the Poison application plan.
Mutilate
A Poison builder whose current extra applications grow with existing stacks.
Envenom
A current multi-target Poison payoff, not the older single-target preview description.

A DECISION ORDER, NOT STAT WEIGHTS

What matters first?

  1. 01Make close-range movement repeatable
  2. 02Establish Poison or repeated-hit coverage
  3. 03Choose the finisher that matches the established setup

We do not publish a universal Strength, Haste or Crit ratio for this class. An item’s value depends on the spells, conditions and survival problem in your actual run. Read the offer before replacing a piece that is keeping the engine alive.

THE RUN, IN THREE QUESTIONS

From the first pack
to the boss.

Opening: what already works?

Use the starter to learn your safe contact distance. Take a way to reach more enemies or to apply Poison before loading the build with payoffs. A close-range class can lose the run while a theoretically excellent condition is still being assembled.

Middle: what is the missing connection?

Check the target condition. If you are selecting Envenom but have little recurring Poison, invest in the missing application first. Combat instead benefits from keeping its repeated-hit sequence active across the group without standing still in the centre.

Boss: what changes when the pack is gone?

Fresh-target opener value and kill-chain value change on an isolated boss. Preserve the reliable part of your kit and step away for the telegraph. A build that cleared the pack brilliantly may need more patient single-target contact.

CHECK THE CURRENT TOOLTIP

The mistake to avoid.

The versioned preview still describes the former Envenom behaviour. The 0.6.2 notes supersede it: three high-Poison targets, remaining Poison damage as the payoff, and retained stacks.

Why this learning-tier placement?

Rogue’s condition-dependent payoffs and required proximity ask more of a first-time player. B is a learning recommendation, not evidence of weak endgame damage.

The full tier list compares how approachable the first learning run feels from the documented toolkit. It does not rank developed characters, co-op compositions or unlimited Mythic performance. Our recommendation can change when the class rules change.

Before the next run.

Is this an exact talent tree or guaranteed best build?

No. It is a source-reviewed route through the class’s main decisions. Exact point allocations and universal stat weights are not established here. Check the current offer and your character’s unlocked options.

Can I use a build from Project Ebonhold or Azeroth Survivors?

Those are different projects with different mechanics. Shared Warcraft class and spell names do not make a build portable. Use the Hordes 0.6.2 reference and the spell descriptions in your own run.

Know the boundary.

Release v0.6.2, published 2 November, is our current reference. The author’s release notes take precedence over older class-preview tooltips. Recommendations are original qualitative analysis; we have not measured class win rates or playtested these builds.
