THE TWO-PLAYER PLANNING DESK
Two toolkits.
One shared plan.
Choose two specializations and decide what each player contributes. This planner compares jobs and tradeoffs; it does not assign win rates or promise a best composition.

22 specialization profiles are available below.
EVERY SPECIALIZATION HAS A JOB

behind the pairing.
Control names do not make two kits interchangeable. Check target conditions, recovery and positioning together.

Twelve pairings.
Different questions.
Arms + Discipline: pressure with a named recovery answer+
The connection: Mortal Strike gives the pressure target a healing problem while Discipline can prevent damage and restore the Warrior. Pummel and Priest support can serve different jobs instead of chasing the same cast.
The tradeoff: Both Intimidating Shout and Psychic Scream use Disorient, so doubling the fear-style response can shorten the control you expected. A Warrior pursuit can also remove the support route the pairing needs.
Practice goal: Assign the next Pummel, name the first defensive trade and return toward the Priest after an answered push.
Fury + Restoration Shaman: prepare for the reply+
The connection: Fury can sustain close pressure while the Shaman combines recovery with Wind Shear. An explicit ranged-interrupt assignment lets the Warrior preserve a different answer for contact or retreat.
The tradeoff: Enrage increases incoming pressure, and Whirlwind can disrupt a nearby Hex target. The Shaman’s healing and totem choices cannot compensate for a Warrior who runs beyond support without warning.
Practice goal: Call the Enrage commitment, keep the intended Hex target clean and reserve one stop for the moment the Warrior reconnects with healing.
Fire + Holy Paladin: protect a readable Fire window+
The connection: Holy can supply recovery while Fire prepares Scorch, selected proc effects and a Fireball or Pyroblast payoff. Counterspell and Hammer of Justice can create separate openings when the partners agree on their order.
The tradeoff: The Mage still needs usable casting access, while the Paladin’s protections carry Forbearance and resource consequences. Moving too far apart to find a perfect cast can remove the recovery that made the attack practical.
Practice goal: Choose the untouched Polymorph target and one protection trigger before committing Combustion or the next major response.
Frost + Subtlety: coordinate access before damage+
The connection: Shadowstep and Frost control can give both players access to a planned target. A deliberate root-to-payoff sequence and a separate off-target assignment make the pair’s next action understandable.
The tradeoff: This pair has no dedicated healer. Sap, Gouge and Polymorph share Incapacitate, and damage can break their target out. Shadow Dance supplies stealth-style actions rather than an automatic escape from retaliation.
Practice goal: Practise one control handoff, announce the damage target and preserve a shared retreat plan when the initial setup is answered.
Assassination + Restoration Druid: pressure with coverage+
The connection: The Rogue supplies a chosen poison package while Restoration prepares healing coverage and a later recovery action. Kidney Shot can help create an agreed moment for the Druid to act.
The tradeoff: Poison damage can undermine fragile control, and Cyclone makes its target immune to the Rogue’s damage as well as healing. Swiftmend also needs appropriate coverage; it is not an unconditional recovery button.
Practice goal: Explain the selected poison package, name the next Cyclone target and check the required healing effect before the team commits farther.
Marksmanship + Discipline: make the shot window usable+
The connection: Discipline can buy recovery time while Marksmanship rebuilds Focus and prepares Aimed Shot. Counter Shot, trap control and Priest support offer distinct assignments for the next exchange.
The tradeoff: Neither a shield nor a low-health enemy guarantees a safe Aimed Shot cast. Damage on the Freezing Trap target can erase the setup, and a retreat that closes friendly sightlines can force both players into recovery.
Practice goal: Agree who stops the next cast, rebuild Focus while moving and complete one shot window while leaving the trap target untouched.
Beast Mastery + Holy Paladin: track three friendly units+
The connection: The Hunter can direct pet pressure while Holy supplies direct healing, Beacon and shared support. A pet-based plan creates useful decisions alongside the Hunter’s own movement and ranged control.
The tradeoff: Pet access is not owner sight: Kill Command still checks the Hunter’s view. Forbearance limits repeated Paladin protections, and the pet must stop attacking an opponent the pair intends to trap.
Practice goal: Call Pet Follow before trapping the previous pet target, then choose a position where the Paladin can support the Hunter’s next action.
Retribution + Destruction: create a cast without losing support+
The connection: Retribution can pressure a nearby enemy and contribute Freedom or healing while Destruction prepares Immolate, shards and a Chaos Bolt window. Hammer of Justice and Fear can be assigned different jobs.
The tradeoff: There is no dedicated healer, and the Paladin’s support shares its Mana budget with attacks. Divine Storm can break nearby fragile control; a large shard stock also carries the chosen capacity talent’s risks.
Practice goal: Name the cast to protect, check Chaos Scar and call the Paladin’s support transition before either player spends the last recovery answer.
Affliction + Combat: continuing pressure with a clean control target+
The connection: Affliction can leave effects working while Combat maintains a swing-and-Energy cycle on the agreed pressure target. The Rogue’s close interrupt gives the Warlock an opportunity to spend a useful cast.
The tradeoff: This damage pair needs a deliberate recovery plan. Periodic pressure can ruin Blind or Gouge, and Combat loses part of its engine when it cannot maintain contact. Neither player inherits a dedicated healer’s toolkit.
Practice goal: Keep the second opponent suitable for the chosen control, identify who handles the next cast and regroup before repeating an unsupported pursuit.
Demonology + Shadow: assign the actual demon action+
The connection: The chosen demon can add a specific stop while Shadow maintains pressure and ranged Silence. Shared Priest support can help an exchange when its form and selected talents permit the action.
The tradeoff: The pair has no dedicated healer. Fear and Psychic Scream share Disorient, and a Succubus Seduction conflicts with damage on its target. Void Shield changes one Shadowform support interaction, not the entire healing role.
Practice goal: Name the selected demon, reserve a separate Silence assignment and state when the Priest will leave damage pressure to provide support.
Feral + Enhancement: name the hybrid support turn+
The connection: Both specs can pursue a shared melee target while preserving selected or form-dependent support options. Wind Shear offers a ranged cast stop, leaving Feral’s combo-point decision available for damage or control.
The tradeoff: Two melee routes can separate from each other or expose both players to area pressure. Shared healing costs time and resources; a prepared Maelstrom effect or Predatory Strikes benefit exists only with the relevant chosen talent and state.
Practice goal: Call which player supplies the next support action and agree where both reconnect after the opponent stops their contact.
Balance + Elemental: make displacement a shared decision+
The connection: A ranged pair can combine a clear Flame Shock payoff with Balance pressure, control and casting angles. Wind Shear gives one reliable interruption while the Druid plans its separate control job.
The tradeoff: There is no dedicated healer, and damage effects must stay compatible with Hex or Cyclone. Typhoon and Thunderstorm can displace the target away from the partner’s planned action; they do not provide school lockouts merely because an ordinary cast stops.
Practice goal: Announce one displacement, identify the casting window it should create and preserve a clean target for the next control.
