FIELD NOTE / 01

Give every new pickup a job

Primal Dread adds weapons, items and other new content to Brotato’s existing run structure. The pre-unlock official material does not give us a complete numeric item catalogue. Rather than inventing one, this guide offers a repeatable way to read a new offer and decide what evidence you need before building around it.

Start with the problem the pickup might solve. You may need a clearer lane, more reliable pressure on a stubborn target, or an effect that works with a particular part of your inventory. Name that problem before looking at the most dramatic line of the tooltip. An impressive effect without a present job can distract from a smaller improvement the run actually needs.

FIELD NOTE / 02

Read a tooltip in four passes

PassLook forQuestion
RecipientThe weapon, item, pet or player effect being changed.Does this apply to the part of the build I intend?
TriggerAny event or condition needed to activate it.Can this run meet that condition reliably?
CostPrice, drawback or conflicting requirement shown. What practical option am I giving up?
EvidenceA visible behavior you can observe afterward. How will I know the intended interaction happened?

Do not fill gaps in the wording with assumptions borrowed from a different game. If the source of an effect is unclear, mark it as a question and keep the experiment small enough that a wrong interpretation will still teach you something.

FIELD NOTE / 03

Test one interaction before stacking several

A complicated loadout can be fun and still be difficult to understand. If several new effects arrive together, a successful wave does not tell you which one mattered. For the first comparison, keep a familiar core where possible and add one unfamiliar interaction with a clear purpose.

Observe the same practical problem before and after the change. Did the lane stay open longer? Was the relevant effect visible when its condition occurred? Did your movement become easier, or did you start accepting worse positions to make the effect happen? These observations are more informative than assuming the largest number on the screen belongs to the newest item.

FIELD NOTE / 04

Sort shop offers into needs, experiments and distractions

Use three mental groups. A need addresses the current reason the run is becoming unstable. An experiment tests an interesting interaction without depending on several missing pieces. A distraction looks attractive but has no clear use in your present setup. The same item can belong to a different group in another run.

This approach helps you adapt without pretending every shop will provide an ideal route. Compare the offers available now rather than measuring them against a build assembled from a perfect inventory. If a speculative pick delays an essential correction, acknowledge that tradeoff instead of calling it automatically stronger.

FIELD NOTE / 05

Keep a compact launch notebook

For a new weapon or item, record its displayed name, exact effect, any restriction and one observation. Add the game version when possible. A concise entry is easier to revisit than a long account of the whole run, and it makes later patch comparisons less ambiguous.

Keep “confirmed by the tooltip,” “observed once” and “still a hypothesis” separate. That distinction protects you from turning one lucky interaction into a universal recommendation. It also makes the next experiment obvious: repeat the uncertain behavior under conditions you understand, rather than adding more unknowns.

Our editorial priority for launch sessions is a loadout you can explain. Once its main interaction is readable, you can make increasingly ambitious comparisons. A public tier list or a claimed maximum-damage combination needs stronger evidence than an announcement, a screenshot or a single successful run.

A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

Before you go.

Where are the new weapon damage tables?

The reviewed pre-unlock official sources do not establish a complete current numeric catalogue. This page avoids substituting guessed values.

Can I assume copied item effects always stack?

No universal interaction rule is established here. Read the particular released effect and check its conditions before relying on a combination.

Does this recommend a tested best build?

It provides an original decision process for evaluating offers. It does not claim Cobalt benchmark results or a launch meta ranking.
