01 / THE FIRST EXPERIMENT
A starting build with one job.
Elemental is our suggested starting experiment for a ranged Shaman learner. Keep Enhancement as a separate close-range test and Restoration for an actual ally-support job.
A starting experiment, not a guaranteed best-in-slot setup or a prescribed point allocation. Inspect the current normal builder and your realm’s tooltip before committing.
02 / CHOOSE THE ROLE FIRST
Three talent directions.
Elemental
A clear ranged casting experiment built around the lightning spells you can currently use. Test how long you can safely keep that cast sequence active.
Open official builder ↗Enhancement
A melee alternative with its own timing and contact demands. Do not assume a Lightning Bolt-trigger card is your best match simply because the class can learn the spell.
Open official builder ↗Restoration
A group healing role. Direct heals and shocks connect to different reviewed Echo triggers, so inspect the action rather than the spell-school colour.

Read the trigger.
Then choose the effect.
These are real Shaman records from the default public Echo Builder, checked on 3 November. Availability and usefulness are different questions; this is a shortlist to investigate, not a promised draw.
Stonefist BarrageLightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, Healing Wave or Chain Heal
The same card can fit a caster or healer for different reasons. Name the action in your current plan.

Arcane BombardmentFlame Shock, Earth Shock or Frost Shock
This is a shock trigger, not a generic lightning proc. Check whether shocks are a reliable part of the fight you are learning.

Its eligible cooldown list spans roles. Value only the portion that your active build can repeatedly exploit.
Default catalog record 201286 · genuine icon / original explanation04 / FIX THE BOTTLENECK
A stat decision order.
Use this qualitative order to decide what to inspect next. It is not a set of simulated weights, universal caps or an instruction to ignore your active tree.
- 01A chosen caster, melee or group-healing role
- 02Safe uptime for the role and enough survival
- 03Spell-oriented gearing for casting; physical gearing for a strike plan
- 04Haste when an eligible cooldown and your resources can use it
- 05Other secondaries after the action family is consistent
If a shock interaction pulls you into an awkward range or timing pattern, its presence on the card is not a reason to force it. Keep the experiment compatible with the position you can maintain.
05 / THE LOOP
Make the next press useful.
The reviewed Stonefist entry names lightning casts and direct heals; Arcane Bombardment names shocks. That difference can decide which card supports the sequence you are already playing.
Perform the actual eligible action.
Check whether the intended result had a useful opportunity.
Change the failing step before adding another layer.
The mistake to catch early.
Paying for several small interactions that each need a different button while none of them receives enough use. Start with one action family.
When an interaction seems absent, read the precise trigger and class record first. An effect with the same name on another class can use a different condition. PTR examples can also differ from the default catalog.
One useful experiment.
Write down the three actions you use most during a manageable fight. Compare those names with the Echo trigger before making the next pick. A card with a familiar icon can still support the wrong part of the kit.
Keep the encounter, role and ordinary sequence as consistent as practical. Write down what changed and what remained awkward. Your own observation is more useful than pretending this guide measured a universal winner.
