01 / THE FIRST EXPERIMENT
A starting build with one job.
Try Retribution for the first solo learning run. It gives the class a specific offensive job. Keep Protection as a separate experiment instead of changing several roles and the Echo plan at once.
A starting experiment, not a guaranteed best-in-slot setup or a prescribed point allocation. Inspect the current normal builder and your realm’s tooltip before committing.
02 / CHOOSE THE ROLE FIRST
Three talent directions.
Retribution
A direct damage starting point. Decide how Judgement and the melee strikes fit together before branching into healing or shield-specific Echoes.
Open official builder ↗Protection
A shield-oriented alternative for players who want to study how a pack approaches. Preserve a route out of the space you are defending.
Open official builder ↗Holy
A support experiment for a group. Judge a heal-trigger choice by the ally and the heal you actually use, rather than importing a solo Retribution checklist.

Read the trigger.
Then choose the effect.
These are real Paladin records from the default public Echo Builder, checked on 3 November. Availability and usefulness are different questions; this is a shortlist to investigate, not a promised draw.
Stonefist BarrageJudgement
A simple named trigger makes this a useful card to investigate while learning how one Echo changes the ordinary cycle.

Arcane BombardmentCrusader Strike, Hammer of the Righteous, Judgement or Holy Shock
Check which eligible action belongs to your role. Do not build around four different jobs simply because one card mentions them.

Temporal PressureSelected Paladin cooldowns affected by haste
Match its list to your active abilities; then check whether the shorter gap is usable without sacrificing movement or resources.
Default catalog record 201280 · genuine icon / original explanation04 / FIX THE BOTTLENECK
A stat decision order.
Use this qualitative order to decide what to inspect next. It is not a set of simulated weights, universal caps or an instruction to ignore your active tree.
- 01A coherent damage or support role
- 02Enough health and mitigation for the content you are learning
- 03Strength / attack power for melee, or spell-oriented gearing for a casting role
- 04Haste when a named cooldown and your resources can use it
- 05Critical strike and other secondary refinements for the chosen engine
The Paladin cooldown list for Temporal Pressure is broad, but its useful part depends on the tree you are playing. A Holy Shock interaction does not prove a Retribution payoff.
05 / THE LOOP
Make the next press useful.
Use Judgement as the first Echo compatibility check. Then ask whether the rest of the card serves your current strike, shield or support role. Shared class eligibility is broader than build compatibility.
Perform the actual eligible action.
Check whether the intended result had a useful opportunity.
Change the failing step before adding another layer.
The mistake to catch early.
Taking a Holy-labelled interaction because it has a high-quality card, then continuing to play a damage loop that rarely triggers it.
When an interaction seems absent, read the precise trigger and class record first. An effect with the same name on another class can use a different condition. PTR examples can also differ from the default catalog.
One useful experiment.
Keep the same talent role for a full short test. Count the moments when Judgement starts the intended interaction, then identify whether the next limitation is incoming pressure or empty global time.
Keep the encounter, role and ordinary sequence as consistent as practical. Write down what changed and what remained awkward. Your own observation is more useful than pretending this guide measured a universal winner.
