Read what the Chamber Chisel actually changes
A Chamber Chisel changes a firearm's ammunition type, with consequences for its base shot characteristics. That is a different system from equipping a sight or changing an oil. Start by reading the gun's current caliber and identifying which reserve ammunition it uses. We would keep the unmodified weapon's strengths in mind before altering that foundation. A conversion can move it toward a useful role, but it can also change the reason you liked the weapon. Compare the whole shooting pattern after conversion rather than assume a larger ammunition label is a complete upgrade.
Check the weapon before spending the kit
The documented caliber-conversion system does not apply to Energy Weapons. A gun's appearance or firing speed is not enough to establish that it accepts the same conversion as another weapon. Inspect its type and the proposed kit, then keep the components separate until the application is appropriate. We would use a spare gun when exploring a conversion whose handling you have not assessed. The weapon workbench planner is useful for organizing a proposed combination; it does not turn an ineligible in-game weapon into a valid target or restore a consumed modification item.
Choose ammunition you can continue supplying
Compare what is in storage with the rate at which the intended weapon fires. A reserve that feels generous in a slow weapon can disappear quickly in a faster one. Include the cost of the next refill in your decision rather than spending the entire budget on the conversion itself. We would also examine whether both carried guns now compete for the same limited supply. A varied loadout can preserve options, while a shared caliber can simplify inventory; neither is automatically correct. Choose according to the route, the reserve you actually own and the fallback you can afford.
Read recoil and pellets alongside nominal damage
The 12Ga kit changes the plan toward shotgun ammunition and multiple pellets. That makes spread, distance and recoil important parts of the result. Other calibers organize their damage differently, so a single headline figure is not a complete comparison. We would learn how the converted weapon lands shots before stacking more damage or projectile modifications onto it. Missed pellets and difficult follow-up shots can change the useful result of a promising item card. Keep the first outing modest enough to discover that behavior without making the same experiment responsible for all of your valuable carried equipment.
Separate conversion from recoverable attachments
The attachment reference explicitly distinguishes Chamber Chisels from parts returned by Ralphie's Workbench. Removing a scope or muzzle attachment does not produce the conversion kit you used earlier. We would plan around that consumed resource instead of treating the ordinary attachment-removal service as an undo button for caliber changes. That does not require assuming a weapon can never be modified again; it means a later change is another decision with its own item and supply needs. Before investing, compare the conversion with keeping the original gun and obtaining a separate weapon for the second ammunition role.
Recheck the scroll, oils and return plan
A conversion can alter the context in which existing enchantments and handling choices were selected. Read the final weapon and reconsider whether its current scroll or oils still support the intended distance and shooting pattern. Keep enough ammunition and recovery for the route back instead of carrying only a theoretical encounter's worth. Our modification guide separates the systems, while the Amulet guide helps plan when to bank the experiment. Change one major layer, observe what it solved and preserve a simpler replacement before escalating the build.

Clear the next question.
Can Ralphie’s Workbench give me the used Chamber Chisel back?+
The attachment reference says Chamber Chisels are not returned through that service. Recoverable attachments and caliber conversion are different systems. Plan a later modification around the items it actually requires rather than assume a free conversion refund.
Should every gun be converted to the largest caliber?+
Consider ammunition supply and handling before choosing. A converted weapon must remain useful for the route and affordable to resupply. The better planning question is which caliber supports its job with the reserves and fallback you possess.
