Holy Shock Holy
Azeroth Survivors Paladin

Holy Paladin has an offensive identity built around Holy Shock and Holy Wrath. Divine Favor changes the opening and adds extra enemies to each Shock bolt. Daybreak rewards Shock critical strikes with a nearby burst, and Light's Grace contributes an autonomous pulse. This guide uses those current effects as a decision framework rather than presenting the build as a conventional WoW healing specialization.

THE COBALT TAKE

Holy Shock cadence, critical-strike reliability and Holy damage each have a reason to matter. The practical challenge is turning that offense into a safe run when a burst is centered on the hero. Plan for the gaps between events and preserve useful recovery, rather than assuming every incoming wave will disappear at the next proc.

Original builds were cross-checked between 0.111.0 and 0.130.0; the new alternate builds were checked directly against 0.130.0 native talent records. All 102 class abilities were checked. Build priorities are our recommendations; exact ranks and offered amulet effects should be read in your client. Evidence & version scope →

The build in four decisions.

Confirm the active engine

Check whether Holy Shock is learned, supplied by a talent, or supporting a pet/proc engine.

Improve the current clear

Use the build priorities. Consider early Luck when damage and survival are already sufficient.

Evaluate any amulet offer

Read which learned spell the amulet remakes; do not assume it changes a free proc or pet.

Support the engine you have

A working setup need not wait for one necklace. Read actual effects and any repeated-offer empowerment.

BEFORE YOU START THE RUN

Give the plan a starting point.

Make sure Holy Shock is the actual opening

Divine Favor explicitly starts a run with Holy Shock. That is the appropriate foundation for this route. Without the milestone, play the available opening and avoid counting Shock-only cooldown support as though it already contributes damage.

Separate a proc burst from a timed burst

Daybreak needs a critical strike from Holy Shock and has a stated trigger interval. Light's Grace releases Holy Wrath on its own schedule. They offer different forms of access to the same named burst, so evaluate the reliability of each instead of treating them as one continuous aura.

Keep recovery and damage clearly labelled

Divine Intellect grants health regeneration in these native records; its familiar name does not establish mana scaling. Healing Light affects Holy Light, not every source of recovery. Choose support according to the spell or stat it actually names.

FOCUS THE CHOICES YOU ACTUALLY SEE

Holy Shock Holy upgrade priorities

Read these in the context of your current clear. They are conditional priorities rather than a numeric stat weight or a fixed card sequence.

YOUR NEXT CHOICE

Check how your core engine comes online

Read your selected talents and current spell list. A learned spell, a free cast and a pet engine are different starting points. Take a spell offer if it fills the missing job; learned-spell eligibility for a legendary amulet is a separate question.

Holy Shock frequency

Lasting Judgement specifically shortens Holy Shock's cooldown. Its name can be misleading if read through conventional WoW knowledge; here it directly supports the attack used by Divine Favor and Daybreak.

Critical-strike chance with a named payoff

Holy Power increases critical-strike chance, while Daybreak turns Holy Shock crits into free Holy Wrath. The proc is limited to once every three seconds, so more crits do not imply an unbounded number of bursts.

Holy damage across the active package

Sanctified Light supports Holy spells rather than an unrelated school. Compare it with cadence or survival when the current offense already clears packs but the hero struggles to stay safe.

Coverage on the correct burst

Purifying Power increases Holy Wrath and Consecration reach. It does not say that Holy Shock gains additional bounces. The burst's area and Shock's secondary enemies are separate improvements.

Survival during the quiet intervals

A recurring fourteen-second Holy Wrath is useful assistance, not permanent protection. Health regeneration or damage reduction can address pressure that arrives before the next event. Read what a defensive offer provides before passing it for another proc-related choice.

BUILD CONNECTIONS

Talents that support the idea.

Inspect the synergies, then compare them with the Armory’s Talents tab between runs. The recorded client describes milestones at 10, 20 and 30 points. Exact ranks and tunable values must be read in your client.

WHY IT MATTERS

Divine Favor

Starts with Holy Shock and makes each bolt leap to two more enemies.

Hover or focus a talent on desktop; tap on mobile. This is a synergy reference. Node order is a reading order, not a point allocation or an unlock tree.

FROM FIRST PICKS TO A FINISHED ENGINE

Your run plan.

Opening

Build a working Shock before chasing every payoff

Inspect Divine Favor and the spell actually granted. When Holy Shock is present, decide whether damage, recovery time or incoming pressure is the immediate problem. An offer that fixes the opening can be more useful than a rare improvement to an effect the character has not unlocked.

Developing run

Keep track of where the damage happens

Divine Favor's bolts leap between enemies, while Daybreak calls Holy Wrath around the hero. Do not walk into a dangerous pack merely because the latter exists. Use the reach and movement available to keep a safe path while the projectile component continues contributing.

Difficult section

Keep the baseline useful when crits do not arrive

Daybreak is conditional, even in a crit-oriented plan. Continue valuing ordinary Holy Shock damage and recovery when its desired trigger is absent. If a spell amulet appears, confirm its named remake and reassess later offers around the effect received rather than a necklace name remembered from an older recording.

Keep the build focused.

  • Assuming Holy means a conventional group-healing rotation.

  • Reading Lasting Judgement as a Judgement cooldown bonus.

  • Treating Daybreak as unlimited or guaranteed from every cast.

  • Confusing wider Holy Wrath coverage with extra Holy Shock bounces.

QUICK ANSWERS

Paladin build questions

Does this require the Protection shield engine? +

No. This route follows Holy Shock, critical strikes and Holy Wrath. The health-scaled Protection interactions belong to a different guide and should not be counted as active here without the relevant talents.

Should I take early Luck for the Holy Shock necklace? +

Consider rarity only when the opening remains safe and productive. The confirmed Luck tooltip concerns rarer level-up upgrades; it does not establish a guaranteed necklace or its drop probability.
