THE COBALT TAKE
Our defensive alternative to chasing a single flashy spell. Protection has a coherent documented loop: Hammer creates holy ground, Consecration builds shielding, and surviving behind that shield also supports damage. It rewards preparation and positioning without making you invulnerable.

The build in four decisions.
Learn it in the run, or check whether an unlocked talent starts you with it.
Better level-up rarity odds, when the current clear can afford the choice.
Look for the legendary remake of this spell in a jewelry offer.
Read its effect. A repeated offer of the worn amulet can empower it.
BEFORE YOU START THE RUN
Give the plan a starting point.
Choose the Protection loop
Plan toward Hallowed Ground, Ardent Defender and Hammer of the Righteous, picking their supporting nodes as the tree permits. Spend points between attempts in the armory; free respecs make this a useful route to evaluate without pretending that an unverified point allocation is mandatory.
Check what starts automatically
Ardent Defender explicitly starts a run with Hammer of Justice. Hallowed Ground turns a landed Hammer into a free Consecration, subject to a four-second trigger limit. Before those milestones, accept needed spells when offered rather than assuming the finished engine exists on a fresh Paladin.
Separate this from other Paladin trees
Holy Shock chains and Exorcism bursts belong to different documented milestone packages. They can be interesting later experiments, but this guide’s main investment is maximum health, Hammer and Consecration. Do not import a WoW tank rotation or a Retribution stat list into this auto-casting survivor build.
FOCUS THE CHOICES YOU ACTUALLY SEE
Consecration Protection upgrade priorities
Read these in the context of your current clear. They are conditional priorities rather than a numeric stat weight or a fixed card sequence.
YOUR NEXT CHOICE

Learn your build’s core spell
Take the core ability when it is offered, or use a verified starting-spell talent you already have. The client describes knowing the spell as a condition for its legendary amulet offer.

Maximum health with a purpose
Improved Consecration and Weighted Hammer add maximum-health-based damage, while Ardent Defender’s shield also scales from that pool. Health therefore has documented offensive and defensive uses here; compare the current upgrade rather than declaring every health card automatically best.
Hammer frequency and ground coverage
Improved Hammer of Justice strengthens Hammer and helps it recover sooner. Additional Hammers can support the loop, but Hallowed Ground cannot trigger more than once every four seconds. Consecration coverage is useful only where enemies actually remain.
Shield uptime and safe damage
Ardent Defender grants 20% more damage while a shield holds, and Sacred Duty supplies another rank-dependent shielded bonus. Preserve enough space to rebuild defenses; deliberately breaking your shield to fish for an explosion is a risky trade.
Damage, sustain and a defense floor
General damage still matters when packs live too long. Use recovery and damage reduction to address the way an attempt actually fails. The ordinary damage-reduction tooltip has a 60% cap; this Paladin route has no verified talent text raising it.
Luck after the opening is secure
Early Luck is an optional investment in rarer future level-up choices. It is not verified as a boss-loot or legendary-amulet chance increase. A needed survival or core-spell upgrade takes precedence when the current loop is not functioning.
BUILD CONNECTIONS
Talents that support the idea.
Inspect the synergies, then compare them with the Armory’s Talents tab between runs. The recorded client describes milestones at 10, 20 and 30 points. Exact ranks and tunable values must be read in your client.
WHY IT MATTERS
Improved Consecration and Weighted Hammer
Add rank-dependent maximum-health damage to Consecration ticks and Hammer of Justice respectively.
Hover or focus a talent on desktop; tap on mobile. This is a synergy reference. Node order is a reading order, not a point allocation or an unlock tree.
FROM FIRST PICKS TO A FINISHED ENGINE
Your run plan.
Opening
Build the connection, not just a health bar
Secure usable damage and look for the spells your current talents require. A large health pool does not clear a wave by itself before the appropriate scaling nodes are unlocked. Gather experience through open edges instead of parking in the middle of an untested shield.
Milestones online
Bring enemies through the holy ground
Hallowed Ground places its free Consecration beneath you when Hammer lands. Shape your movement so incoming enemies pass through useful ground, then leave before the pack closes every exit. Repeated ground can rebuild Ardent Defender shields, but its trigger and stacking limits still apply.
Durable target
Value more than crowd clear
Hammer of the Righteous adds maximum-health scaling to your casts, gives Hammer a target-health component and turns a broken shield into a nearby burst. Those documented effects make a guardian encounter worth evaluating separately; they do not prove an unlimited boss-health exploit.
Recovery
Treat the rescue as borrowed time
Divine Intervention can leave you at 30% health with free Divine Shield and Consecration after a lethal blow, once every ninety seconds. Use that window to reach safety. Review whether damage, shielding or movement failed before spending the next attempt on more offensive picks.

Ignoring Hallowed Ground’s four-second limit when judging cooldown upgrades.
Standing still solely to force a shield-break burst while enemies block the escape route.

QUICK ANSWERS
Paladin build questions
Is this a dungeon tank build? +
No group-role claim is needed: these are Azeroth Survivors mechanics for a self-contained run. The familiar talent names have custom effects, including free ground, absorb stacking and health-based damage.
Which legendary necklace should I choose? +
Read the actual offered spell-specific transformation and the item it replaces. The installed dictionary confirms the system, but it does not establish a trustworthy Paladin spell-to-necklace name mapping; this guide therefore does not prescribe one.
