THE COBALT TAKE
Our take: Enhancement is a spell-and-companion alternative here. Its useful decisions come from knowing which spells can receive extra strikes and which effects only help a different part of the package.
Desktop 0.111.0 + 0.130.0 checked. Reviewed 30 October 2026. Original builds were cross-checked between 0.111.0 and 0.130.0; the new alternate builds were checked directly against 0.130.0 native talent records. All 102 class abilities were checked. Build priorities are our recommendations; exact ranks and offered amulet effects should be read in your client. Evidence & version scope →
The build in four decisions.
Check whether Lightning Bolt is learned, supplied by a talent, or supporting a pet/proc engine.
Use the build priorities. Consider early Luck when damage and survival are already sufficient.
Read which learned spell the amulet remakes; do not assume it changes a free proc or pet.
A working setup need not wait for one necklace. Read actual effects and any repeated-offer empowerment.
BEFORE YOU START THE RUN
Give the plan a starting point.
Use the original Windfury spell list
The native Windfury milestone names Lightning Bolt, Earth Shock and Frost Shock. Each has a chance to strike twice more at once. This is a reason to develop those documented spells, rather than assume the build requires a WoW weapon enchant, melee swing rotation or a similarly named effect from another version. Improved Lightning Bolt supplies direct support for the core already named in that list.
Treat the wolves as a later companion stage
Feral Spirit adds two spirit wolves whose bites carry their own Windfury chance. Read whether that endpoint is learned before including it in the current opening. The earlier spell package can still develop without companions. Neither the milestone names nor this guide prescribe a full permanent point allocation; inspect the current armory prerequisites and the tooltip’s scalable amounts.

Check how your core engine comes online
Read your selected talents and current spell list. A learned spell, a free cast and a pet engine are different starting points. Take a spell offer if it fills the missing job; learned-spell eligibility for a legendary amulet is a separate question.

Keep Lightning Bolt’s direct damage useful
Improved Lightning Bolt is a clear support effect for the chosen core. A strong extra-strike idea still needs the original attack to matter. Compare a direct improvement with the current target and available choices instead of abandoning Bolt simply because another rare spell appears.
Choose shocks by their actual interactions
Earth Shock and Frost Shock are named by Windfury. Elemental Weapons separately improves Flame Shock and Frost Shock. Frost Shock therefore appears in both descriptions, while Flame Shock is not listed in the verified Windfury effect. This is a useful comparison when a shock offer appears, without pretending one option is always best for every run.
Distinguish critical cadence from cast count
Flurry grants a five-second period of faster cooldown recovery after a critical strike. Maelstrom Weapon supplies a free Chain Lightning after a parameterized number of spell casts. Those are different triggers. Build around what is learned, and do not assume every extra hit counts as a fresh cast or makes a spell-count effect repeat without restriction.
Take future rarity while the current engine is safe
Luck can improve later level-up rarity odds, but it does not guarantee a Windfury trigger, unlock the wolves or supply a missing defense. Consider it when Bolt and the current supporting spells already handle the opening. Stop deferring present needs when enemies remain alive long enough to remove your movement options.
BUILD CONNECTIONS
Talents that support the idea.
Inspect the synergies, then compare them with the Armory’s Talents tab between runs. The recorded client describes milestones at 10, 20 and 30 points. Exact ranks and tunable values must be read in your client.
WHY IT MATTERS
Windfury
Gives Lightning Bolt, Earth Shock and Frost Shock a chance to strike twice more immediately.

FROM FIRST PICKS TO A FINISHED ENGINE
Your run plan.
Before the run
Check the three actual stages
Identify the current Windfury spell package, any Maelstrom Weapon milestone and the Feral Spirit endpoint separately. A character with the first stage is not the same as a fully developed companion setup. Build the opening around the effects actually learned rather than a finished account’s list of names.
Opening
Develop the supported spell first
Make Lightning Bolt useful before dividing every offer among unrelated spells. When a relevant shock arrives, compare its documented synergy with the problem you face. Keep a safe movement route while pressure develops; the Enhancement label does not require deliberate contact with enemies.
Developing
Let Flurry support the current rhythm
A critical strike can activate faster cooldown recovery for five seconds. Appreciate that window without treating the temporary effect as permanent uptime. Maelstrom’s free Chain Lightning adds another contribution if learned, but this route does not assume the Elemental branch’s separate Chain Lightning capstone is active too.
Companion stage
Add wolves without guessing their job
Feral Spirit supplies two wolves with Windfury-bearing bites. That is documented additional pressure, not proof of a taunt, body-blocking defense or every possible player-stat scaling rule. Keep the player spell engine working while the companions contribute, especially when a durable target exposes a weak Bolt or shock package.
Equipment decision
Read the precise spell remake
A candidate amulet should be judged by its current offered interaction and the known-spell requirement. Do not identify a Lightning Bolt, shock or Chain Lightning remake from a guessed item name. Compare what the replacement removes before moving away from a useful opening amulet.

Keep the build focused.
Treating this Windfury as a WoW weapon-enchant rotation.
Adding Flame Shock to Windfury’s verified extra-strike list.
Counting every extra hit as a new spell cast for Maelstrom Weapon.
Assuming the wolves automatically absorb the pressure on the player.
QUICK ANSWERS
Shaman build questions
Is Enhancement a melee-only build in Survivors? +
Its inspected milestone supports named spells, and this route uses Lightning Bolt as the core. No melee requirement is inferred from the tree name.
Do I need to learn Chain Lightning immediately? +
Maelstrom Weapon describes free Chain Lightning casts if learned as a permanent effect. Evaluate a normal Chain Lightning offer separately, especially when an equipment condition requires a known spell.
Can I promise permanent Flurry? +
No. The record describes a critical-triggered five-second benefit, not verified permanent uptime for an unfinished character.
