Water Elemental Frost
Azeroth Survivors Mage

Frost changes the Mage's organizing idea from Fire critical-strike chains to Frostbolt coverage and control. Splitting Ice adds nearby impact damage, while the Water Elemental capstone supplies a companion and periodic Frost Novas. This guide treats those effects as tools for a moving run, without claiming that every enemy can be held permanently.

THE COBALT TAKE

The strongest documented connection is between control effects and Shatter's conditional damage bonus. Frostbite and the capstone's periodic Nova can contribute control, while Splitting Ice helps the central projectile affect packs. Build around those jobs instead of expecting the Fire guide's Ignite or free-Pyroblast engine to appear automatically.

The build in four decisions.

Know Frostbolt

Learn it in the run, or check whether an unlocked talent starts you with it.

Weigh early Luck

Better level-up rarity odds, when the current clear can afford the choice.

Inspect the amulet

Look for the legendary remake of this spell in a jewelry offer.

Reinforce the result

Read its effect. A repeated offer of the worn amulet can empower it.

BEFORE YOU START THE RUN

Give the plan a starting point.

Confirm the Frostbolt opening

Summon Water Elemental explicitly replaces Fireball with Frostbolt at the start. Without the capstone, a Frost plan still needs to respect the spell actually available. Do not spend the opening as though the final projectile and companion were already present.

Treat control as a condition, not a promise

Frostbite gives Frost hits a chance to freeze their target briefly. Shatter rewards several control states, not just freezing. Neither record proves every enemy accepts every control effect, so observe the current threat before relying on it.

Keep companion assumptions narrow

The capstone confirms a Water Elemental casting Frostbolts beside you. Its record does not establish that every player modifier is inherited by the pet. Evaluate offers by their stated wording rather than extending player-only bonuses to the companion without evidence.

YOUR NEXT CHOICE

Learn your build’s core spell

Take the core ability when it is offered, or use a verified starting-spell talent you already have. The client describes knowing the spell as a condition for its legendary amulet offer.

Frostbolt recharge and impact coverage

Improved Frostbolt supports the main attack's cooldown. Splitting Ice adds damage around the struck target, giving a second, different reason to strengthen the projectile package.

Control that makes Shatter relevant

Shatter increases damage against frozen, stunned, slowed or fleeing enemies. Its native effect is conditional damage, not a blanket critical-strike bonus borrowed from another version of WoW.

Coverage on the spells actually listed

Arctic Reach names Frost Nova, Cone of Cold and Blizzard. It can support the control area, but its wording does not say that Frostbolt itself gains a larger impact burst. Keep it distinct from Splitting Ice.

Protection during control gaps

A chance to freeze and a periodic Nova leave gaps. Consider damage reduction or an available barrier when the incoming threat exceeds what movement and intermittent control can handle.

Luck only while the opening is stable

A rarity-oriented early offer can be considered once the core works. The confirmed Luck text does not turn that choice into a guaranteed Frostbolt amulet or prove a specific necklace probability.

BUILD CONNECTIONS

Talents that support the idea.

Inspect the synergies, then compare them with the Armory’s Talents tab between runs. The recorded client describes milestones at 10, 20 and 30 points. Exact ranks and tunable values must be read in your client.

WHY IT MATTERS

Improved Frostbolt

Shortens Frostbolt's cooldown.

Hover or focus a talent on desktop; tap on mobile. This is a synergy reference. Node order is a reading order, not a point allocation or an unlock tree.

FROM FIRST PICKS TO A FINISHED ENGINE

Your run plan.

Opening

Build a reliable projectile before chasing everything else

Check whether Frostbolt and the elemental are already granted. If they are, look for the immediate weakness: cadence, pack coverage or safety. If they are not, keep the available opening productive and avoid treating unlearned Frost support as present damage.

Developing run

Separate the two locations of Frost coverage

Splitting Ice bursts around the Frostbolt target, whereas the free Frost Nova bursts from the hero. Move with that distinction in mind. A useful target-centered hit does not require walking into the same pack to force another hero-centered effect.

Dangerous section

Preserve an exit between Novas

The capstone states an eight-second interval for its free Nova. Continue moving and reassess when enemies remain active, rather than standing still until the next pulse. Against an enemy that resists the hoped-for control, value ordinary damage and survival instead of assuming Shatter is always active.

Keep the build focused.

  • Treating Shatter as the familiar WoW critical-strike formula.

  • Assuming every enemy is permanently frozen or affected identically.

  • Confusing target-centered Splitting Ice with a Nova centered on the hero.

  • Claiming complete pet stat inheritance without a matching record.

QUICK ANSWERS

Mage build questions

Is this simply Fire Mage with Frost spell names? +

No. The plan uses controlled targets, Frostbolt impact coverage and the elemental capstone. It does not depend on Fire crits producing Pyroblasts or Fire kills creating explosions.

Does the Water Elemental copy all my upgrades? +

The verified talent confirms its presence and Frostbolt attacks. Complete inheritance rules have not been established by that description, so this guide does not promise them.
