Know what you are looking for
There are 99 Tablet Shards. RPG Site describes them as visible gold sparkles in towns and dungeons, rather than treasure hidden inside ordinary containers. Look for that visual cue while exploring a new area, and keep shard tracking separate from your chest list.
Record the area and a short landmark when you collect one. “Harbor, waterside pickup” is a practical personal note. A bare number from a guide is less dependable because different walkthroughs arrange their lists differently.
Return to Oblivion Palace with a purpose
The reward destination is Oblivion Palace in the Grandshelt region, southwest of Kol. Note your total found and the last reward you claimed as separate entries. That gives the next visit a clear purpose and helps you distinguish an unclaimed reward from a missing pickup.
Make reward visits part of an existing travel loop. Game8’s walkthrough recommends checking the palace during the journey, rather than forgetting equipment rewards until they are less useful. You do not need a separate trip after every single sparkle.
Choose the milestone that matches your goal
PowerPyx distinguishes the goals: 60 shards satisfy Memento; 76 lead to the Ancient Firearm; Adamantite rewards at 80 and 89 support The Weaponsmith. Its achievement route therefore targets 89 rather than all 99. RPG Site’s reward table also lists Lightbringer at 99 for players pursuing the complete set.
Treat those as different finish lines. A first achievement, a crafting-related milestone and all rewards are not the same task. Decide which one you want before spending an evening retracing every early dungeon.
Use a small area ledger
Give each visited area one status: unchecked, partly checked or confidently reviewed. Add a landmark for each confirmed pickup and a reason when something remains inaccessible. When a route opens later, the note tells you what to inspect instead of asking you to repeat the entire chapter.
Keep the current in-game total beside the ledger. A mismatch is a prompt to review uncertain entries, not proof that a particular numbered location was missed. RPG Site explicitly says its shard numbers are guide labels, not numbers shown by the game.
Search narrowly when the total stops matching
Begin cleanup with areas you marked partly checked. Revisit a small group, confirm its landmarks and update the record before moving elsewhere. If you need a location guide, open the relevant town or dungeon section rather than the whole late-game list. That limits spoilers and makes the visit easier to verify.
PowerPyx reports post-story shard cleanup. Our recommendation is to collect visible pickups on the first visit to reduce backtracking; an unexplained gap alone is not a reason to restart. Keep save backups as a general planning habit. A warning about a one-time chest does not establish that a Tablet Shard is permanently lost.

QUICK ANSWERS
Before your next session.
Do I need all 99 Tablet Shards for Memento? +
The reviewed achievement guide places Memento at 60. Higher shard milestones serve other rewards and achievement-related crafting goals; all 99 is a separate collection target.
Why does one guide’s shard number disagree with another? +
Those numbers organize the authors’ routes. Match the area and landmark, then compare your own record, rather than treating a guide number as an in-game identifier.
Where do I claim Tablet Shard rewards? +
Visit Oblivion Palace in the Grandshelt region, southwest of Kol. Keep the total collected and the last reward claimed as separate notes when planning a return trip.
