THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Our take: Demonology asks you to defend the partnership as carefully as you defend your own character. Useful pressure disappears quickly when the demon is allowed to become a separate, unsupported fight.

Decide what the partnership is meant to do

Before an exchange, choose the demon’s job alongside your own. You may want pressure on a priority target, a specific utility action, or help surviving contact. A demon sent to the wrong enemy can make the rest of your plan less coherent even while it continues dealing damage.

Our PvP advice applies the documented Forever toolkit to tactical decisions. It is not a claim about tournament-tested compositions or guaranteed matchups. The initial goal is to keep both members of the partnership useful while the enemy tries to separate them.

Purchase a plan, including its recovery

Review the route to the defensive and demon-support interactions you want, then identify the level and prerequisites involved. The complete talent planner is a possibility space, not evidence that all the displayed tools can be selected together on your current character.

Consider how the allocation functions after the first problem. If the demon is controlled or lost, what restores a useful state? If you must move, what work can it continue doing safely? Keep recovery choices visible beside damage choices. A build that only works while the opponent ignores the demon is not a complete PvP plan.

Do not let the enemy split your attention cheaply

Take a position from which you can observe both the immediate threat and your demon’s route. Avoid sending it through a blind corner while you remain unable to support the resulting exchange. Your team’s useful position should shape how far you are willing to chase.

If the opponent turns attention toward the demon, recognize the change early. Decide whether to recall, reposition, support or commit pressure elsewhere. Do not keep casting at the original target as if nothing changed. Managing that switch calmly is a better starting goal than trying to maintain an unbroken ideal damage sequence.

Give every assignment an intended payoff

Keep the demon on the target that matters to your pressure plan, and align any Demonic Brand decision with that assignment. Use your available damage effects and direct actions during windows in which the target remains worthwhile. Reassess when an enemy defensive or a new threat changes the exchange.

Preserve deliberate control and utility uses rather than allowing every action to occur automatically. A timely interruption or a controlled enemy may create more value than a small amount of extra damage. Tell teammates which target you intend to affect so they can use the opportunity instead of reacting after it is gone.

Maintain both health bars with a safe resource exchange

Read the actual Soul Link and sustain tooltips in your chosen Forever allocation. A defensive interaction involving the demon makes its condition more important, not less. Keep a plan for incoming pressure on either member and avoid spending all recovery options before the enemy’s real attempt begins.

Life Tap also needs a safe interval. Do not solve a Mana shortage by making your current survival problem impossible. For gear, judge health, resources and offensive caster stats against the recurring limitation you observe. We do not claim precise PvP caps, a mandatory race or a universal best demon before trustworthy launch evidence is available.

Practice the moment the demon becomes the target

In a controlled practice encounter, ask your partner to alternate pressure between you and the demon. Your task is to change position and assignments without losing sight of the team’s goal. Include a deliberate recall rather than only practicing a perfect offensive opening.

Common mistakes are keeping a demon on a target that no longer matters, sending it beyond useful support, and forgetting the route home while chasing. Review the earliest action that made the partnership difficult to maintain. A successful defensive recovery can preserve more useful pressure over the whole engagement than forcing one additional damaging cast.
