THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT
Our take: Demonology is a good fit if you want to manage a partnership rather than a single casting bar. A living, correctly positioned demon is part of the damage plan, not a preparation checkbox.

The demon is an active assignment
The reviewed Forever guides emphasize Demonic Energies, Demonic Brand and Soul Link within Demonology’s toolkit. Their descriptions make one point clear: the character and demon need to be considered together. A plan that ignores either health bar or position is incomplete.
Our recommendation is to begin with reliability. Before pursuing an elaborate damage sequence, make sure you can send the demon to a chosen target, bring it back, and keep it away from a dangerous route. These are repeatable actions that make the specialization useful in an actual group rather than only against an uncontested practice target.
Choose a demon plan you can maintain
Use the current tree to identify the package that supports the demon you intend to play and the interaction you want to develop. Follow the real prerequisites and available points. A projected complete allocation can depend on tools a leveling character does not yet possess.
Distinguish damage improvements from tools that help restore the partnership when something goes wrong. A recovery choice may be worthwhile in difficult pulls even if it does not improve an ideal damage sample. Do not assume the later sacrifice-and-summon interactions are identical to an older WoW version; read the selected Forever talents before deciding which demon should be active.
Give the demon the right target first
Prepare the intended demon, resources and group utility before combat. Assign the demon deliberately, then let the tank establish control in a dungeon. Keep any assigned curse and the chosen damage effects useful on the priority target. If your allocation uses Demonic Brand through Searing Pain, keep the Brand decision aligned with the demon’s assignment rather than casting on unrelated enemies.
Choose direct damage, maintenance and any talent-enabled finishing opportunity according to target lifetime and the window available. Check that the demon is actually attacking before assuming a weak result must be a gear problem.
Move two characters through the encounter
Watch the demon’s position during area damage, target changes and transitions. Recalling it from a bad location may cost less than replacing it after an avoidable death. A hostile target moving through another pack is a pathing problem to solve before sending the demon after it.
Keep pet commands comfortably accessible and distinguish a planned utility use from an automatic action. Explain any control assignment to the group. The important habit is checking the partnership during the encounter, not only noticing it after one member has stopped contributing. Your own position should allow you to see and support that plan.
Keep the recovery cycle sustainable
Account for both your health and resources when choosing a Life Tap interval. Review the current talent interaction with the demon rather than assuming that maintaining one bar automatically solves every problem. When a pull changes, stop and decide whether the next action should restore the partnership or add more damage.
For equipment, compare actual caster stats with the damage and reliability your activity requires. Do not buy a projected endgame item solely because a beta table labels it best. We are not assigning final stat weights, demon rankings or mandatory racial choices. Those need live-version evidence and a clearly stated encounter context.
Review demon downtime as a separate category
After a few pulls, identify time lost because the demon was idle, on the wrong target, out of position, or unavailable after dying. Keep that separate from time lost through your own movement or resource decisions. This makes an adjustment much easier to choose.
Common mistakes are forgetting to change the demon’s assignment when the group switches targets, chasing into an unsafe pack, and treating a defensive interaction as permission to ignore the demon’s health. Practice a controlled recall and return during an easy encounter. The resulting reliability is more useful than a theoretical improvement you cannot keep active.
QUICK ANSWERS
Demonology Warlock questions
Is demon control really part of the PvE rotation? +
Yes. The plan includes target assignment, movement and survival because an idle or unavailable demon cannot perform its intended job.
Should I always sacrifice the active demon? +
No. Check the actual selected Forever talents and the interaction your allocation is intended to support.
Does this establish the best level-60 demon? +
No. It gives a method for making and maintaining a demon choice without inventing launch tuning results.
