SECONDARY / SKILL 1–300

Cooking.
A useful skill at every stage.

Cooking supplies your next adventure. Our route offers meat and fish checkpoints, reserves attention for recipe access, and keeps later beta limits visible. As a secondary profession it leaves both primary choices available, making an early start easy to justify.

Reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever is in its pre-launch edition. Later-level advice is identified as planning where beta coverage is limited; check the current client before committing materials or a long journey.

Why these profession pairings?
  • Fishing supplies a deliberate fish-based branch.
  • Skinning can accompany beast quests that also provide cooking ingredients.

Your Cooking route

1–75

Cook the ingredients your route supplies

Reviewed opening options include Charred Wolf Meat from Stringy Wolf Meat, Roasted Boar Meat from Chunk of Boar Meat, and Brilliant Smallfish from its raw fish. The first two are trainer recipes; the fish recipe is a separate purchase. Make a small usable food supply and carry completed campfire kits so the next outdoor batch does not depend on finding a town stove.

MATERIAL CHECKPOINT
  • Stringy Wolf Meat
  • Chunk of Boar Meat
  • Raw Brilliant Smallfish
  • Simple Wood

Before the next stageJourneyman Cooking requires skill 50. Train before a batch can hit the 75 cap.

76–150

Choose fish or meat before buying recipes

Longjaw Mud Snapper is a reviewed fish path, while Coyote Steak and Boiled Clams are alternative checkpoints. Bristle Whisker Catfish appears later in the band. Buy a recipe that matches the ingredients you actually collect, then check whether its output is still suitable for your character. Owning every possible recipe is a collection goal, not a requirement for a comfortable leveling session.

MATERIAL CHECKPOINT
  • Raw Longjaw Mud Snapper
  • Coyote Meat
  • Clam Meat
  • Refreshing Spring Water
  • Raw Bristle Whisker Catfish

Before the next stageExpert Cookbook becomes the next unlock at Cooking 125; this is not ordinary rank training.

151–225

Collect the book and keep meals relevant

Expert Cookbook is source-listed from Wulan in Shadowprey Village for Horde or Shandrina near Mystral Lake for Alliance. Curiously Tasty Omelet uses Raptor Egg and Hot Spices; Roast Raptor later uses Raptor Flesh and Hot Spices. Choose one reachable ingredient supply rather than buying all alternatives. Set aside a portion of finished meals for the group before evaluating sale demand.

MATERIAL CHECKPOINT
  • Raptor Egg
  • Raptor Flesh
  • Hot Spices

Before the next stageArtisan is tied to Clamlette Surprise at skill 225 and character level 35.

226–300

Confirm the live kitchen and final recipes

The reviewed leveling source labels its Artisan sequence untested. Clamlette Surprise is the rank checkpoint, while Iron Oven is a listed skill-300 camp workstation. Some advanced food requires that station even when its recipe skill is lower. Check the current recipe and workshop access before buying expensive fish or meat; we do not present the old Classic finishing list as a verified Forever instruction.

MATERIAL CHECKPOINT
  • Ingredients required by the current quest
  • Materials for a learned, live-checked dish

Before the next stageFinal craft order and high-rank recipe access await live verification.

Make the food fit the next session

Plan supplies around your next solo, dungeon or gathering session. Inspect the finished food’s effect and consumption requirement before treating it as an upgrade. Keep tonight’s meal accessible: a useful buff forgotten beneath uncooked ingredients contributes little to the next pull.

Separate making a kit from placing a fire

Basic Campfire Kit uses Simple Wood and a reusable Flint and Tinder tool for crafting; carry finished kits for travel. Camping is a shared system, not a separate Survivalist profession. Coordinate features with the party and stop somewhere calm before a long cooking session.

BEFORE YOU SET OUT

Quick questions

Must I learn Fishing to cook?+

No. Meat and other ingredients provide alternatives. Fishing is a useful supply route, not a compulsory primary-profession choice.

Can a lower-skill cook use another player’s oven?+

The current reference allows shared station use when the cook knows the recipe and meets its own requirement. Placing the oven has a separate requirement.
