THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Our starting recommendation is a reliable healer first and an offensive hybrid second. Learn the encounter’s damage and your mana budget before adding damage globals or chasing a Shockadin setup.

Keep the next heal useful

Holy Paladin works well when you can recognize who needs help next and choose the right size of response. Your tank may need a large direct heal while another player needs a smaller correction. Trying to solve both situations with the same expensive button can leave you without mana when the difficult part of the pull arrives.

Forever adds decisions to that familiar foundation, but it does not make every Holy talent a requirement to stand in melee. This is a pre-launch guide based on published mechanics. We distinguish a planned level-60 toolkit from specialist examples written during a lower-level beta, and we do not call either one a tested final raid build.

Build for the healing problem in front of you

Examine the relationship between Holy Shock, Infusion of Light and your direct heals. A faster follow-up heal is valuable when you recognize the opportunity and have a target that needs it. Read mana-oriented options such as Reverence alongside those throughput choices; a bigger theoretical heal is less useful if the build cannot support the fight’s length.

Light's Vigil gives the deeper tree a party-recovery option. Treat it as a planned answer to a relevant damage pattern rather than another spell to refresh without thought. Our preference for a first dungeon setup is a small, understandable healing toolkit with utility you can use under pressure. Expand the plan after the group’s damage becomes predictable.

A healing priority rather than a fixed rotation

Before the pull, check mana, buffs, your position and the tank’s route. Keep a clear line of sight to the person you expect to take damage. During the pull, first prevent an immediate death, then handle dangerous removable effects and prepare for the next large damage event. Use Flash of Light, Holy Light and Holy Shock according to urgency and your current resources rather than in a repeating sequence.

When an Infusion of Light opportunity appears, decide whether the faster Holy Light is needed now or whether a smaller response is sufficient. A useful proc is not a command to overheal. Likewise, a party-healing interaction becomes valuable when several allies can actually benefit from it, not because its icon is ready.

Add an offensive global only when the group is stable and the movement or position it requires is safe. A healer who abandons line of sight to reach a target can create more damage than the attack prevents. We would measure the success of an offensive experiment by whether healing remained controlled afterward.

Spend to finish the encounter

Watch both your current mana and the work still ahead. A short trash pull can tolerate a different pace from an extended boss attempt. Preserve a recovery option and plan when drinking is possible between pulls. Tell the tank when your resource level changes the size of the next safe pull rather than hoping they notice the bar.

Do not judge a healing spell only by its largest possible number. Compare what the target needed, what was actually restored and the cost of the cast. Canceling or changing an unnecessary heal when appropriate can be more useful than searching for a tiny stat upgrade while repeating the same overhealing pattern.

Choose healing gear for the assignment

Compare healing contribution, mana support and enough health to survive the encounter. Armor type alone does not decide the quality of a healer item, but neither should a small healing increase make you ignore a large survivability loss. Keep a separate plan if you want to experiment with an offensive Holy setup.

We are not publishing final stat weights, a mandatory race or a level-60 Best-in-Slot list from limited beta examples. Start with items you can obtain and explain which problem each upgrade solves. If you routinely run out of mana early, first inspect spell choice and avoidable damage before assuming that only a completely different gear set can help.

Make support actions part of the plan

Keep Cleanse and your useful blessings easy to reach. Agree on buff responsibilities when another Paladin is present and learn which enemy effects deserve an immediate response. Defensive support can prevent a healing emergency, but its timing and restrictions matter. Read the current tooltips before combining immunity-related cooldowns, and review deaths to distinguish unavoidable damage from a missed utility opportunity.

QUICK ANSWERS

Holy Paladin questions

Must Holy Paladin stand in melee to heal? +

No. Some talents support active or offensive play, but safe position, line of sight and timely healing come first.

Is Light’s Vigil available throughout leveling? +

It is a deep-tree talent. Explore the actual Forever tree and your current point budget rather than treating the complete level-60 toolkit as an early-level rotation.
