THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Our provisional PvP approach is a support anchor who stays available to heal. Position and coordinated defensive trades matter more than trying to prove how long you can survive while isolated.

PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE Source reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever launches 4 November. Talent data is versioned; balance and gearing advice remain provisional.

Holy Shock

Be available when your team commits

A Holy Paladin can change an engagement by keeping the right teammate active through the enemy’s pressure. Choose a position where you can reach your front line without standing inside every enemy stop. Before an advance, know where you can move if the opposing team turns toward you.

This guide covers battleground and open-world support in the announced Forever setting. It is not an arena composition ranking or a claim of launch-tested healing throughput. Our recommendations are editorial judgments from the documented toolkit, with exact tuning and final talent allocations left open to the live game.

Create a cast window, not just a large heal

Voice of Truth is interesting because it offers a way to protect an important casting window from silence and interruption. Read its exact protection rather than treating it as immunity to every form of control. A stun, movement error or lost line of sight can still prevent the healing you intended to deliver.

Consider the follow-up relationship between Holy Shock, Infusion of Light and Holy Light when comparing throughput talents. Then ask how often you can actually use that relationship while being pressured. Our preference is to preserve reliable recovery and resource support before taking an offensive option simply because it produces an attractive isolated damage number.

Respond to the cause of pressure

Keep your threatened teammate in view and identify whether the immediate problem is raw damage, a removable effect or the inability to move. Sometimes the best support global restores health; sometimes a timely Cleanse or appropriate blessing creates the room in which healing becomes possible. Coordinate that response with the teammate instead of guessing what they need.

Use an instant response to buy time or cover movement, then decide whether a larger cast can land safely. Avoid beginning a long heal from a position an enemy can easily reach without any help from your team. If you have planned a protected casting window, spend it on the healing that matters rather than on an unnecessary opening cast.

When several allies need help, compare who is likely to receive the next damage rather than automatically selecting the lowest bar at the edge of the fight. A party-recovery talent can help with spread damage, but it does not remove the need to triage or keep the primary target alive.

Trade defenses with a route back to support

Call when you are being focused and move toward a teammate who can peel rather than away from everyone who can help. An immunity or other large cooldown should create a useful next state: a recovered health bar, a safer position or time for your team to respond. Using it while continuing an isolated chase can waste that opportunity.

Check the current restrictions on your defensive buttons and on the objective you are playing. Do not assume a familiar immunity interaction from another WoW version applies unchanged. Keep an answer for the next meaningful control chain instead of stacking every available response into the first small threat.

Support that remains alive can keep contributing

Balance healing and mana with durability appropriate to the opponents you face. A loadout that looks excellent when nobody attacks you can feel very different under coordinated pressure. A little less paper throughput may be worthwhile if it lets you remain in a position from which you can continue supporting the group.

Use the live PvP vendors and their current requirements when planning upgrades. Blizzard separates the currency used for purchases from rank progression, so do not build a shopping plan around an old Classic standing system. We are not claiming a final launch stat cap, ideal race or completed PvP Best-in-Slot set.

Review availability rather than healing totals alone

After a match, look for teammates lost while you were out of position, important casts interrupted without a plan and deaths with unused defensive options. Also notice good support: a dispel that restored movement or a peel call that created a safe heal. Those moments often matter more than a raw total of healing performed into unimportant damage.

QUICK ANSWERS

Holy Paladin questions

Does Voice of Truth stop every type of crowd control? +

Do not read silence and interrupt protection as universal crowd-control immunity. Check the current tooltip and still plan for movement, stuns and line of sight.

Should I use a damage-oriented Holy build for team healing? +

Only after accepting the tradeoffs. Our starting recommendation is a stable healing and support setup before experimenting with a more offensive allocation.
