THE COBALT TAKE
Our take: Feral is a useful flexible starting direction, but learning when to heal, tank or stay in damage form matters more than collecting every possible role on paper.
Reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever is in its pre-launch edition. Later-level advice is identified as planning where beta coverage is limited; check the current client before committing materials or a long journey.
BUILD GOOD HABITS EARLY
Your Druid milestones
Manage the caster opening
Use the available spells without spending a full mana bar on a target that a cheaper finish can handle. Keep enough room to heal, maintain useful buffs and prepare the next trainer visit instead of judging the class only by its pre-form rhythm.
Learn Bear Form as a separate toolkit
Both reviewed leveling references place Bear Form at 10. Practise its abilities, recovery decisions and the return to caster form. If you want to tank, begin learning threat and positioning rather than treating the form alone as complete dungeon preparation.
Build a Cat rhythm
The reviewed sources place Cat Form at 20. Work on builder and finisher decisions, then heal between suitable fights when needed. Inspect form weapon scaling and Feral Combat skill; a weapon is no longer merely a decorative stat stick for this route.
Choose the flexibility you actually use
A regular tanking or healing group may justify different equipment and utility investments from solo Cat play. Above the beta-tested range, reassess damage and mana demands before assuming an earlier hybrid setup handles every new assignment comfortably.
Keep role goals separate
Post-beta planning: Cat damage, Bear tanking, Balance casting and Restoration healing ask different questions. Use the guide library to plan the role you want at 60, while retaining useful leveling tools until the content gives you a reason to change them.
Replace the old stat-stick assumption
Current Forever specialist coverage identifies weapon-damage scaling for Bear and Cat, alongside a Feral Combat skill. Compare a meaningful weapon upgrade rather than blindly applying an older Classic rule that only the attributes printed on it matter. Match the usable item, skill and role before spending gold.
Your resource bars change jobs with the form. Keep track of the mana that pays for leaving the damage routine to heal or support someone. Repeatedly shifting and healing without a plan can turn a flexible character into one that constantly stops to drink. Recover deliberately when both health and mana need attention.
Prepare one role well, keep another available
For solo Feral play, a manageable target and a short recovery can produce a comfortable circuit. Roots and other control require a usable target and enough space; inspect the actual restrictions instead of assuming every enemy or location behaves alike. Avoid a complicated positional plan when the target cannot be held where you need it.
Dungeons offer quests and role practice. Declare your role and bring suitable equipment and spell ranks. The Feral guide separates Cat and Bear needs; Balance and Restoration provide different endpoints. Prepare equipment for each assignment.
Keep useful supplies in every form
Skinning with Leatherworking suits a leather-equipment journey, while Herbalism with Alchemy supports a self-supplied consumable plan. Check which recipes you can actually use at your current level before committing materials. A gathering-first approach can leave more money for training and the meaningful weapon upgrades that Forever Feral now values.
Food, water and a healing potion remain practical even when you can heal yourself. The reviewed Forever guide confirms consumable use in Bear and Cat, so update any old habit of always shifting out first. Learn the current interaction before danger arrives, keep bag space for quest items and choose a retreat before fighting deep in a cave.

Quick questions
Are weapons only stat sticks for Feral in Forever?+
No. Current specialist leveling coverage explicitly describes Bear and Cat weapon-damage scaling. Compare the weapon and the relevant form skill as well as its attributes.
Can a Feral leveling Druid heal early groups?+
It can be an option with prepared gear, trained spells and a suitable group pace. Check the actual dungeon and assignment instead of promising every role from one setup.
