THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT
Our take: the best opening is one that leaves you options afterward. Use Feral flexibility to choose engagements, not to justify chasing every target.
PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE Source reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever launches 4 November. Talent data is versioned; balance and gearing advice remain provisional.

The damage role asks you to plan energy, finishers and target lifetime.

Tanking asks for threat coverage and survival before optional damage.
A major commitment whose value depends on the role and the available window.

Choose the engagement before the opener
Look at the enemy's allies, your team's route and the terrain before committing to a target. Reaching someone first is not the same as choosing a good fight. If your only exit runs through the rest of the enemy group, even a strong initial attack can leave you trapped.
For early world PvP and battleground learning, we favor clear jobs: pressure an isolated target, protect a teammate or delay pursuit. Decide which job you are performing. The form and resource decisions become much clearer once the purpose of the engagement is explicit.
Talents for contact, control and recovery
Inspect the current Feral tree for choices that support reaching a target, staying useful under pressure and returning after an escape. A damage gain during uninterrupted contact is only part of the decision. A flexible talent that gives you a second meaningful action after being forced away may fit your actual games better.
Do not import an old Classic point map. The reviewed Forever sources contain later revisions to Feral's resource mechanics. Keep a note of the tree version and verify the tooltip of any talent your plan depends on.
Pressure: make each resource commitment count
Approach with a plan for how long you expect to remain in contact. Use that window to build a useful advantage, then reassess when the opponent spends a defensive or receives support. Continuing the same offensive sequence into an obviously closed window can waste resources you will need moments later.
Periodic effects and finishers should support your team's control plan. Ask before applying effects to a target intended for breakable crowd control. When you switch targets, decide whether you are creating a kill opportunity or merely following the nearest visible enemy.
Change form to solve a problem
Cat and Bear are tools for different immediate needs, with caster utility creating another set of choices. Avoid switching simply because the health bar moved slightly. Name the problem first: incoming physical pressure, lack of contact, an ally who needs help or a route that must be held.
Keep mana in mind while evaluating those choices. A string of unnecessary changes can leave your plan without a recovery stage. Use movement and allied support before the situation becomes desperate, and make your next offensive commitment only when the position is useful again.
Build for the job you actually queue to do
A set intended for sustained damage does not automatically fit carrying an objective or absorbing enemy attention. Keep enough durability to execute the task, then compare damage upgrades within that requirement. We would rather start with a forgiving setup and remove unnecessary defense later than spend every fight unable to recover.
Check current racial and profession descriptions separately. This guide does not assign a universal winning race, promise a fixed matchup or claim that level-60 battleground priorities are already settled by a short beta period.
Objective discipline and common mistakes
Feral mobility is wasted if it delivers you quickly to the wrong fight. Watch where your team needs a body, a distraction or help escaping. A brief delay on an enemy route can be more useful than pursuing a player who has already left the objective.
Review deaths by asking when the escape route disappeared. Common mistakes are chasing past allied support, spending every resource before checking the surroundings and discovering too late that a planned form change or utility action no longer fits the available mana.
QUICK ANSWERS
Feral Combat Druid questions
Is this an arena build copied from Wrath? +
No. It is a source-based Forever preparation guide for world PvP and battlegrounds, without importing arena brackets or later-expansion mechanics.
Should I stay in Cat Form at all times? +
No fixed form rule replaces reading the fight. Choose the form and utility action that address the immediate assignment while preserving resources for the next stage.
