THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT

Our take: Enhancement should be learned as a melee-and-resource plan. Extra spell opportunities are valuable only when the encounter and your mana support them.

PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE Source reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever launches 4 November. Talent data is versioned; balance and gearing advice remain provisional.

Stormstrike

A core melee interaction to read alongside the current Nature-damage tools.

Maelstrom Weapon

A proc decision whose value depends on the spell access and pressure of the moment.

Rage of the Farseer

A major window to align with useful contact rather than a fleeing target.

Treat the assignment as melee DPS

Begin by agreeing on the enemy you should attack and where the tank wants the pull. Enhancement combines weapon activity with spell decisions, but that flexibility does not remove ordinary melee responsibilities. Move out of avoidable danger and keep useful contact rather than trading the rest of the encounter for one extra attack.

This guide treats Enhancement as melee DPS. Experimental threat-oriented talent choices do not establish a dedicated launch tank role. If a group deliberately experiments with an alternative job, discuss the limits before the pull rather than discovering them during it.

Read the weapon-and-spell connections

The reviewed Forever material highlights Stormstrike, Maelstrom Weapon and the relationship between some talents and Intellect. Inspect those interactions together before deciding that a familiar Classic weapon or a single physical stat must determine the whole build.

Choose flexible points for the content you actually run. Sustained resources, useful contact and a planned offensive window can point toward different choices. An external leveling setup, a mixed spell-oriented experiment and a future raid setup should not be treated as three names for the same proven allocation.

An ordinary combat priority

Check your weapon enhancement and the group's totem plan before combat. Once the tank has control, establish safe melee contact and use the current Stormstrike interaction appropriately. Read Maelstrom opportunities as choices within the fight rather than permission to cast whatever button is most visually prominent.

Reserve the resources needed for an assigned interrupt or support action. When enemies are about to die or move away, reconsider a costly setup. The right next action should fit the remaining opportunity, not merely keep an abstract sequence moving.

Make offensive cooldowns practical

Use Rage of the Farseer where the target will remain available and the group can support the commitment. Activating a major window just before a movement mechanic creates resources and speed without a good place to spend them. Consider the encounter timeline rather than the cooldown icon alone.

For multi-target play, ensure the tank actually wants the nearby enemies attacked. Evaluate Fire Nova and fire-totem positioning from their current descriptions. A large pull is not automatically a good pull when the group cannot control the incoming damage.

Gear and mana are a combined problem

Inspect weapon compatibility and the contribution of both weapon and spell portions of the toolkit. A mixed stat can deserve attention when the selected talents create a connection, but that is not a universal numerical priority. We are not presenting a solved launch weight table or a complete best-in-slot list.

Review how much mana was spent on useful damage, required utility and unnecessary replacements. A setup that empties the bar before the important part of an encounter needs a resource adjustment even if its first few seconds look impressive.

A reliable Shaman helps the whole pull

Coordinate totems with the group's needs and keep them in a useful location. Know which enemy cast you cover, when a teammate may need help and which targets must remain controlled. Your assignment should remain understandable to the tank and healer while you pursue damage.

Common mistakes include assuming a later-expansion dual-wield or cooldown routine, copying a caster experiment without its supporting talents and using every spell opportunity until no resource remains for utility. Read the current tree and change one identified weakness at a time.

QUICK ANSWERS

Enhancement Shaman questions

Is this a dedicated Enhancement tank guide? +

No. It is a melee-DPS preparation guide. Some sources discuss threat experiments, but those are not a promise of a supported launch tank role.

Should I gear as a pure physical class? +

Inspect the selected Forever talents and your actual damage plan. The documented hybrid interactions make a one-stat answer unreliable without context.
