THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT
Our take: choose Arcane when you enjoy planning a burst window and paying for it. A clean resource cycle is a better starting target than copying a level-60 damage claim from a beta screenshot.

Talent data & scope
Functional tree data: ArenaMaster 1.60.1.70532 snapshot, retrieved 2026-10-30. Grid positions and ranks were cross-checked against Eternadex. What makes this an Arcane decision
Forever gives this specialization a distinct Arcane Blast and Missile Barrage interaction. The specialist sources also separate the tested low-level environment from a projected complete tree. That matters: a character missing the relevant talents cannot simply follow the endgame spell list and expect the same rhythm.
Our recommendation is to evaluate a pull as a budget. Decide which enemy needs the burst, how much uninterrupted time you have, and what must remain for the next mechanic. Spending every available point of Mana is not the same thing as spending it well.
Build a functioning engine before adding luxuries
In the planner, identify the nodes that enable your intended Blast-and-Missiles sequence, then inspect their prerequisites and the points available at your actual level. Treat those as a package. A half-built package can leave you with its expensive action but without the efficiency or payoff you selected it for.
Next ask why a spare point is being spent: fewer failed casts, better resource recovery, or help in a particular encounter? Save a second variation for dungeon utility instead of calling one allocation universally best. Check the live tooltip before paying for a reset.
Start with a window, not a memorized number
Before the pull, finish your group preparation and locate a position from which the first required movement is short. Let the tank establish control. Begin the Arcane sequence only when the target is secure, then respond to the proc you actually receive rather than pretending every opening produces the same result.
Write down the point at which your opening stops being useful: the target moves, a dangerous cast needs an interrupt, or your remaining Mana no longer supports the next phase. That is your exit condition. A successful opener includes the ability to leave it.
Use a three-question casting priority
- Can I finish this cast or channel safely from here?
- Does my current proc or resource state change the next action?
- Will the target live long enough for that action to matter?
Use Arcane Blast as the starting damage action in the selected Arcane package. When Missile Barrage is available, assess the Arcane Missiles channel. If movement closes that window, consider an appropriate instant such as Fire Blast rather than beginning a channel you cannot finish.
Those questions make the rotation responsive without making it random. Avoid committing a valuable channel as an enemy reaches you or a boss forces movement. If you must move, travel toward the next useful casting location, not merely away from the last dangerous circle. Spend the movement interval checking the tank, the next target and your resources.
Dungeon damage includes keeping the pull organized
Assign Polymorph before anyone starts area damage. Agree which hostile cast you are stopping and which interrupt belongs to another player. Arcane’s personal sequence is easier to execute when a dangerous add has already been removed from the problem.
Keep an escape route behind your casting position. Walking into melee range for an area spell is a positioning decision, not a mandatory reward for seeing several nameplates. If the pack is scattered or uncontrolled, help restore order first. A brief reduction in your own damage can prevent the much larger cost of a reset.
Choose gear for the problem in front of you
Compare items using their actual caster stats, your present Mana constraints and the target level. An upgrade that improves a short demonstration may be less helpful when your group makes several pulls before drinking. Keep separate notes for damage completed during a window and the recovery time afterward.
Do not buy an expensive item solely because a beta list names it best in slot. Check its current version, acquisition cost and whether the list describes level 30 or level 60. We are not publishing a numerical hit cap, stat weight or mandatory race without the corresponding verified rules and encounter context.
A useful review after three pulls
Record one thing after each comparable pull: why you stopped casting. Was it movement, threat, a missed utility assignment, depleted Mana, or simply a dead target? Fix the repeated cause before changing several talents at once. The best adjustment may be a starting position rather than another damage node.
Common mistakes are entering a pull unprepared, spending a proc where its channel cannot finish, and treating the recovery period as someone else’s problem. Practice a controlled opening and a controlled exit together. You should be able to explain both choices before adding more cooldowns to the sequence.
QUICK ANSWERS
Arcane Mage questions
Is there one confirmed level-60 Arcane build? +
Not in this pre-launch editorial guide. Use the current tree and encounter needs; beta recommendations are not a substitute for launch validation.
Should I always keep casting Arcane Blast? +
No. Evaluate the current proc, Mana budget, target lifetime and next mechanic rather than using an unlimited fixed sequence.
Does this guide use Retail Arcane rules? +
No. Its source set is explicitly for Forever, and it avoids importing Retail charge counts or rotation rules.
