THE COBALT TAKE
Our take: a clean sequence of manageable pulls is more valuable than forcing every early Warrior into one supposedly mandatory weapon or spec.
Reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever is in its pre-launch edition. Later-level advice is identified as planning where beta coverage is limited; check the current client before committing materials or a long journey.
BUILD GOOD HABITS EARLY
Your Warrior milestones
Make the next fight affordable
Learn the difference between spending Rage to finish safely and spending it on an enemy already about to die. Keep food available, repair before a long circuit and leave money for the next useful training visit.
Let equipment inform the route
A strong one-hander and shield can justify a different journey from a good two-hander. Train the relevant weapon skill before judging a new drop; an unfamiliar weapon can feel weak for reasons unrelated to its item stats.
Practise the job you want
Solo players should learn interrupts, escape routes and conditional attacks. Prospective tanks should carry a shield and tell the group what they can handle. A talent detour for utility is reasonable when it solves an actual recurring problem.
Add cleave with a plan
An Arms-first ordinary-point route can reach Sweeping Strikes at 30. Use the extra target only when both enemies are safe to hit. Advice above the tested beta range is preparation, so reassess incoming damage before increasing pull size.
Turn a route into a role
This is post-beta planning rather than a proven speed route. Compare damage, tanking and survival needs as new equipment appears. The level-60 build cards are editable role references; they are not a requirement to level every earlier band identically.
Spend on the weapon and the next pull
Compare the whole weapon, its usable skill and your chosen setup before buying a small armor-slot improvement. Two-handed Arms, dual-wield Fury and shield Protection ask different questions. Furious Precision improves off-hand hit in this snapshot, so it is not a reason for a two-handed questing character to skip other useful talents.
Watch both health and Rage at the end of combat. If moving immediately is safe, carry momentum into the next nearby objective; if the next pull is dangerous, recover first. Lingering Rage delays decay after combat rather than enlarging the bar. Never turn that benefit into a reason to chain into a bad respawn.
Choose runs with a purpose
Questing gives you control over enemy level, travel and recovery. Plan a dungeon when quests, a useful reward or a dependable group make the trip worthwhile. Repeated runs with no clear objective are a different commitment from completing a quest bundle. Agree who interrupts and which enemies remain controlled before cleaving.
A healer partner changes the value of health recovery and larger pulls, but does not make you invulnerable. Start with the job you will perform that session, then consult the Arms, Fury or Protection guide and its editable talent planner.
Keep the support package inexpensive
Mining with Blacksmithing suits players who enjoy making usable equipment; check a recipe’s actual benefit before turning all your gold into materials. Mining with Engineering is a deliberate gadget investment, while a gathering-first plan leaves more money for weapons and training. None is required to begin questing.
First Aid and food are particularly practical for a melee character with limited recovery windows. Carry a potion for the unexpected add, keep bag space for quest items and combine town visits with repairs, training and selling. An organized return trip often helps more than another speculative auction purchase.

Quick questions
Must I level as Arms?+
No. Current specialist guidance also supports shield and dual-wield journeys. Available weapons, recovery and your group role should influence the choice.
Should I chase the raid hit cap while questing?+
No. A level-63 raid attack table is not a general questing target. Compare your actual enemies, attack setup and talent effects.
