First check which save you are using
The developer's save documentation distinguishes Softcore from Hardcore. Its export-and-import workflow is for Softcore; Hardcore saves cannot be moved using that workflow. Check the current menu rather than assuming that a backup procedure works in every mode.
Do the following at a calm stopping point. Keep the original game environment available until you have verified the destination.
Make a copy you can identify later
Use the save menu's export option and keep the generated file outside the browser's site storage. The documented workflow also supports copying a save code. Prefer a file when you want a clearly named backup that you can locate again.
- Record which browser or app produced the copy.
- Keep the original exported file unchanged.
- Put the date and a short personal note next to it, without editing the save itself.
- Verify that you can find the file before closing the source environment.
Compare before replacing anything
The documented import screen compares the incoming save with the destination's current progress before replacement. Read that comparison. If the destination already contains progress you care about, export a separate copy from there first.
Do not treat two similarly named files as interchangeable. Compare their origin and date, and stop if the preview does not match the progress you expected. This guide is a preparation checklist, not a recovery service for a damaged save.
A browser copy is not an external backup
The project states that clearing its site data removes the local save and its browser-held copies. Changing browsers is also a different environment. Plan a deliberate export before a cleanup, profile change or device move.
We do not request save files or codes. Keep them private and use the game's own import screen. If something fails, report the error and the step that failed without posting the entire save code publicly.
