THE COBALT TAKE · EDITORIAL ASSESSMENT
Our take: make a defensible healing position and keep a second answer ready. A support toolkit is strongest when the group can understand and protect its location.
PRE-LAUNCH GUIDE Source reviewed 30 October 2026. Forever launches 4 November. Talent data is versioned; balance and gearing advice remain provisional.
A resource-management tool to keep in the preparation and recovery routine.
Inspect its available-level and healing interaction before planning the next group response.
A support cooldown to use where the group can actually benefit from it.

Protect the place you heal from
Choose a position with allied support, a view of the engagement and a route to cover. A healer who stands in the middle of every enemy approach will spend far more of the fight reacting than deciding. Watch where your team is moving so a safe position does not become isolated.
We would learn that positioning before adding an aggressive utility routine. These are source-based editorial priorities for world PvP and battleground preparation, not a claim that a launch arena composition or matchup ranking has already been established.
Build around the pressure you need to survive
Use the current Restoration tree to compare resource support, emergency access and the flexibility you need under player pressure. A point that improves a protected healing sequence is not automatically the point that keeps you active when opponents target you.
Keep the character's actual level in the comparison. Some published material includes a low-level beta variant beside future endgame plans. The right recovery action is one available on the current character, not a capstone that exists only in a calculator screenshot.
Heal with a follow-up in mind
Read whether an ally faces steady pressure or an imminent large hit. Choose a direct or emergency response appropriate to that danger while keeping another answer for the next stage. Spending several major tools on the same modest health drop can leave the following enemy push far more difficult.
When enemies turn toward you, call it early. A teammate can help much more effectively before your position and resources have collapsed. Reassess the need to move instead of repeatedly starting a long cast in a place the enemy now controls.
Make the totem plan visible to teammates
Use the available Tremor, Grounding and Earthbind tools for an identifiable threat and in a useful location. Your group needs to know where that support is established. A relevant effect placed far behind the advancing fight does not continue to solve the same problem.
Consider replacements and movement together. Repeatedly rebuilding totems without a purpose spends resources while the healing task continues. Use the current relocation or cleanup tools where learned, and avoid treating deployment as a mechanical checklist that must be repeated at every minor change in position.
Spend utility without losing healing capacity
Purge and an interrupt can create a powerful team opportunity, but each also competes for attention and resources. Choose the effect or cast that actually matters. Do not turn an attractive offensive possibility into a situation in which an ally receives no timely healing.
Watch Water Shield and the broader resource trend. Agree on short calls for pressure, recovery and help moving. Equipment should let you survive ordinary attention while preserving useful healing. We do not offer a universal race choice or a final numerical PvP stat weighting before launch evidence exists.
Heal the task your team is trying to finish
Protecting a defender, keeping an escort moving or supporting a withdrawal can be more valuable than extending a fight in an irrelevant location. Look beyond the immediate health bars whenever the danger allows. Following one player too far can remove the healer from the whole group.
Review the earliest lost position and the first avoidable resource commitment. Common mistakes include asking for help only after every answer is gone, using low-value purges during urgent healing and assuming a familiar class means the same toolkit as another expansion.
QUICK ANSWERS
Restoration Shaman questions
Should I spend spare time purging every enemy effect? +
Prioritize removals that prevent real danger or create a useful team opportunity, while preserving healing attention and resources.
Does this guide import a Wrath Restoration arena build? +
No. It uses the Forever tree and limits its PvP scope to world play and battleground preparation without claiming an established arena meta.
